The Poznan University of Technology is one of the best-known Polish universities, enjoying well-deserved prestige rooted in tradition and high teaching quality. Established in 1955, the University draws on the tradition of various Polish technical education institutions based in Poznan.

IT holds a prominent position amongst them, with both lecturers and students boasting a range of spectacular applications of their work, well-known and appreciated not only in Poznan, but across the globe.
Among the fields the Poznan University of Technology specialises in, especially worth emphasising are those which represent the most recent and fastest developing scientific areas, such as IT aspects of molecular biology, biomechanics, renewable energy sources, nanoengineering, energy diagnostic of biological and mechanical systems, mechatronics, eco-engineering, nanotechnology, cost intensity and energy intensity of construction, integrated electricity management, energy and economic efficiency analysis, robotics, telecommunications, plasmic metallurgy, research into plastic recovery and recycling and more.
The University’s institutes play an important service role in the region, involving the drafting of opinions and scientific reviews for various institutions. Work commissioned directly by the business sector is mostly related to solving current technical and organizational problems in the field of housing, industrial construction, road and bridge construction, environmental engineering, telecommunications, power engineering, the automobile industry, IT and industrial automatics.
